How to Show Support to Loved Ones
Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) shared a post on Facebook on how to be kind to show support to loved ones during the COVID-19 crisis. Here is a recap from MR.DIY:
Check in Regularly with Your Loved Ones
Text, call, video call or email them especially if they live alone. Send them funny memes or GIFs to cheer them up. Don’t forget about them. Make sure they feel less alone and have social support. Offer them help. Social distancing doesn’t mean we can’t feel close to our loved ones. Get creative. One idea is to synchronise watching your favourite TV show or movie together while chatting via text or video.
Encourage Them to Keep Doing What They Enjoy
In difficult times, we need to find ways to keep our minds off negativity in order to manage out emotions. Encourage the people around you to keep doing what they enjoy to add a little positivity to their day so that they can get through this difficult time easily.
Share WHO Information to Manage Anxieties
Unfortunately, misinformation on COVID-19 is floating around online and it can cause anxiety to some. Share information from the World Health Organization (WHO) you that you and your loved ones can manage anxieties during this crisis. Alternatively, you can also get information from the Ministry of Health.
Provide Calm and Correct Advice for Your Children
Young children may not understand what is going on. Find out what your child already knows and start from there in terms of getting them on the right track. Give them calm and correct advice and answer their questions in a way that they can process.
