MR.DIY has completed its fourth series of the “Upcycle: Walk with Style”, where close to 25 children from Edufun Learning Centre in Ipoh, Perak joined this program. The MR.DIY – Soroptimist International Ipoh (SII) partnership continues, in particular aimed to upcycling MR.DIY unused white school shoes, and later donated to the underprivileged children.
The program, which took place on 13 December 2022 at Royal Ipoh Club in Ipoh, Perak, focused on the children to paint and decorate the shoes donated by MR.DIY. Through their creativity and imagination, the shoes then will turn into brand new items for them to own. MR.DIY has also supplied all the needed drawing and painting tools such as markers, paint, drawing brushes, accessories, and glitter.
A total of 10 MRDIY Cares together with the representatives of SII have volunteered and contributed their energy in ensuring the event is a success. As to date, a total of 513 children nationwide have benefitted from this initiative.
Apart from the Walk With Style program, Medical Awareness Camp Outreach (MACO) through MR.DIY has donated 5 complete sets of refurbished CPUs, monitors, keyboards, cables, and mouses to Edufun Learning Centre to provide the support for their new computer lab at the centre. The handover session was held at the Edufun Learning Centre after the Walk With Style program ended.
MR.DIY are truly humbled by the generous display of compassion from MRDIY Cares volunteers and representatives of SII and look forward to more future collaboration to improve the well-being and sustainable livelihood of underprivileged children in the area where we operate.
