MR.DIY had debuted the third series of its newest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative held on 7 December 2022 for the “Upcycle: Walk with Style”, which saw almost 300 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tunku Bendahara in Kodiang, Kedah attended this program.
This half-day program in collaboration with Soroptimist International Damansara (SID) and SK Tunku Bendahara in Kodiang, Kedah, was aimed at upcycling MR.DIY unused white school shoes, and later donated to the children.
Through this project, the children get the chance to paint and decorate the shoes using their creativity and imagination, which later turns into brand new items for them to own. For this reason, MR.DIY has also supplied all the needed drawing and painting tools such as markers, paint, drawing brushes, accessories, and glitter.
A total of 29 support coming together comprising MR.DIY Cares volunteers, representatives from SID and teachers of SK Tunku Bendahara. This program, which has traveled from one state to another, began first in Rumah Aman in Sungai Buloh, Selangor and Myanmar Refugee Community Learning Center (MRCLC), Kuala Lumpur before making its way to Kodiang, Kedah.
MR.DIY expressed his gratitude and is amazed with how collaborators are being supportive and hope through this initiative not only will give better opportunities to the underprivileged children but creating a pathway for sustainable livelihood.
