KUALA LUMPUR, 17 April 2020 — In response to the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) call for various parties to help address the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) stocks for healthcare frontliners, made during its daily press conference on 15 April 2020, home improvement retailer MR.DIY is pledging a contribution of 1,000 PPE suits and 10,000 face shields, worth approximately RM150,000.

A sample of the PPE was presented by the Chairman of the Group, Dato’ Azlam Shah Alias, to Malaysia’s Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba, at Putrajaya yesterday afternoon.

Dato’ Azlam said: “As a homegrown enterprise focused on meeting the needs of our customers, we always endeavour to do our part for the betterment of the nation. Likewise, in this time of need, we aim to do what we can to help alleviate the situation and address the shortage of PPE for the healthcare frontliners.”

“With the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, I hope that this humble contribution by MR.DIY will go some way towards ensuring the safety and well-being of our frontline healthcare personnel, who are working valiantly round the clock to save lives,” he added.

The home improvement retailer will also utilise its logistics teams and fleets to deliver the PPE to the hospitals in need next week.

This is not the first time that MR.DIY had provided support towards efforts to curb the spread of the virus. Earlier this year, the retailer had contributed over 3.8 million 3-ply face masks and 1,000 PPE suits to the public and to frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. In its endeavour to do its part in the fight against the virus, MR.DIY will continue supporting the frontliners in need and Malaysians in general.
